He has attained MS ME in 1974 and PhD ME on Structural Dynamics in 1986 from Polytechnic University of Kharkov, Ukraine. He started his career in Research Laboratory of Tractors Manufacturing Company, Kishinev, Moldova (1974-1978). As a research mechanical engineer, he conducted simulation of torsion oscillations of tractor’s transmissions.
His prime work experience in vibration & acoustic field he has attained working in former USSR Research & Design Company, 1978-2001, Nikolaev. Working in the Vibration & Acoustic Department as research engineer and later as a Senior Scientist he conducted scientific research and design work on HVAC units for NAVY applications to meet stringent requirements on vibration/acoustic/shock.
He has experience to suppress 3-D vibrations caused by electro-magnetic, unbalance, gas-dynamic, etc., sources of rotating/reciprocating machines using passive & active vibration dynamic absorbers. His methods were applied to suppress 3-D vibrations of hermetically-sealed compressors for air-conditionings for NAVY applications.
Working as a Senior Scientist he developed 3-D notch-type vibration isolation systems for series of HVAC units which presently are introduced for NAVY applications. He developed compound vibration isolators with embedded tuned 3-D mass-spring vibration dynamic absorbers.
He has hands-on experience in precision on-site dynamic balancing machine trains with portable instruments and shop balancing rotors with soft/hard-bearing balancing machines, laser pulley/shaft alignment, resonance detecting and eliminating. He has experience in diagnosis of coupling and alignment errors in machine trains, identifying damage in rolling-element bearings from the BEARCON Signature Analysis and fault identification using Frequency Analysis.
Presently he provides consulting on vibration/shock problems for Safety Vision Co., Huston, TX, British Maritime Technology, Frontier Electronic Systems Co., and others.
On the base of software MathCAD, AutoCAD he developed his library of computer programs which allows on the designing stage to conduct:
- Assessing vibration/shock mounting systems with computation of six natural frequencies and modes of machines & structures as 6DOF isolated rigid body;
- Computation of forced vibration (frequency response) of machines & structures as 6DOF isolated rigid body under any force excitation & base induced excitation (one or two mass system);
- Assessing vibration/shock mounting systems with simulation of random vibrations (acceleration power spectral density, etc.) of isolated vehicle electronic devises and structures, linear/nonlinear, MIL-STD-810F base induced excitation;
- Simulation of drop test of isolated (linear/non-linear) electronic devises & other structures with measurements;
- Using SIMPLE software and his own computer programs simulation of shock response – absolute acceleration, relative displacement, etc. of 6DOF isolated object's. Input signal – Floating Shock Platform (FSP), Deck Simulator Fixture (DSF), Medium Weight Shock Machine (MWSM), half-sine, triangle pulse, etc.
- Assessing & simulating optimum schemes of tuned mass-spring vibration dynamic absorbers for reducing 3D vibrations of machines & structures;
- Assessing & simulating compound vibration isolators with embedded tuned mass-spring vibration dynamic absorbers;
- Simulation of torsion oscillations of shaft lines.
He is a member of the Vibration Institute http://www.vibinst.com and professional snorkel/scuba diver.
