Electrostatic Discharge
(ESD 501)
ESD training is provided for production associates, supervisors, engineers, maintenance technicians, and managers. Training is also available for ESD process checkers and auditors. Training is designed to give students a through understanding of the reality of the electrostatic discharge phenomenon and how the various control measures can mitigate damage to sensitive products. Training is presented from a practical standpoint and supplemented with demonstrations to reinforce vital concepts. Real time Charge and Electrostatic Discharge equipment is used to help students understand the following concepts and control measures:
Introduction
- Benefits of an ESD control program
- Discussion of ESD sensitivity
Discussion of ESD Failure Models
- Human Body Model - HBM
- Charged Device Model - CDM
- Field Induced Charged Device Model - FCDM
Elements of an effective ESD Control Program
- Identification of an ESD protected area
- Personal grounding
- Work surfaces
- Control of static generating material
- Ionization discussion
- Proper handling & transportation of ESD sensitive product
